Beginning, Capturing Video, Placing Clips into Clip viewer

New Project
When opening iMovie, you will need to decide you are beginning a new project or opening an existing project.
If you choose to begin a new project, you will need to give your project a name.
Capturing Video
If your firewire is correctly attached to your camera and computer, the video screen will give you a message telling you the computer is connected.

Below the video screen are the tools you need to view the movie from the camera. When you find a selection you want, choose import.
As the video imports, it will create clips and place them on the shelf on the right.
You can make multiple clips by stopping and beginning Import again. The computer will automatically start a new clip anywhere you paused the camera while filming.
Importing Clips        Placing Clips in the Clip Viewer  Placing Clips on the Timeline
After you are finished importing video, turn off the video camera. Choose the clips with which you want to work. Drag the clips from the Shelf down to the Clip Viewer. You will see them show up below. You can rearrange them in the Clip Viewer by dragging them around. It may be easier to go to the Thumbnail Preview Mode to rearrange.
